چکیده

Objectives: Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) modulators have substantially improved the clinical outcome of CF patients. The aim this study was to investigate physical fitness a pediatric cohort and effects CFTR on exercise test performance. Methods: In retrospective observational single center we reviewed total 137 incremental tests (cycle ergometer) in 64 patients (25 females, 39 males, mean age 15.3 ± 2.4 years) between 2010 2022. Changes pulmonary function (FEV1), peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak) maximal workload (watt) over time as well under influence CFTR-targeted therapies were analyzed. Results: observed significant decline VO2peak from early adolescence until adulthood (p < 0.01), but FEV1 remained stable. 22/64 (34%) had at least one while modulator therapy, 10/22 an prior after 6 months modulators. lumacaftor-ivacaftor or tezacaftor-ivacaftor therapy (6/10), course did not differ compared matched controls seemed flatten. All elexacaftor-tezacaftor-ivacaftor (4/10) showed marked increase FEV1, slightly 3/4 Conclusions: While capacity declined during adolescence, seem more favorable course.

Pregnancy among cystic fibrosis women in the era of CFTR modulators.

BACKGROUND Little is known about how new therapies that partially correct the basic cystic fibrosis (CF) defect (ivacaftor and lumacaftor) might alter hormonal contraceptive effectiveness, impact pregnancy outcomes, or affect pregnancy timing. Examination of pregnancy rates among CF women during periods of CFTR modulator therapy initiation will provide foundation for further research in this ar...

CFTR Modulators for the Treatment of Cystic Fibrosis.

Defects in a single gene lead to the defective proteins that cause cystic fibrosis, making the disease an ideal candidate for mutation-targeted therapy. Although ivacaftor is currently the only FDA-approved CFTR modifier, others are in development.

CFTR Modulators: Shedding Light on Precision Medicine for Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common life-threatening monogenic disease afflicting Caucasian people. It affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, glandular and reproductive systems. The major cause of morbidity and mortality in CF is the respiratory disorder caused by a vicious cycle of obstruction of the airways, inflammation and infection that leads to epithelial damage, tissue remodeling a...

Mutation and Rare Polymorphisms Insight in Exons 7 and 20 of CFTR Gene in Non-Caucasian Cystic Fibrosis Patients

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common severe autosomal recessive disorder caused by a wide spectrum of mutations in the gene encoding for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein. The frequencies, types and distributions of mutations vary widely between different populations and ethnic groups. The aim of this study was to perform a comprehensive analysis of the C...

Outcome of Cystic Fibrosis in Patients with Bronchiectasis

Introduction: Bronchiectasis is a common problem in children especially under 5 years. Early diagnosis of disease and its causes could be useful in early treatment and preventing probable complications. This study aimed at evaluating the cystic fibrosis (CF) in patients with  bronchiectasis. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 374 children with bronchiectasis were studied. The diagnosis was ma...
